Every parent of a Scout in Troop 975 is invited to participate fully in the operation and maintenance of the organization. In fact, we cannot do it without you. The Tenderfoot Scout of today is the Senior Patrol Leader of tomorrow, and today's new parent may one day be Scoutmaster of Troop 975.

There are many ways to get involved:

You will find that we never lack for parents to assist on outings. Why not be one of them? Sign up to drive and/or camp with the troop on an outing. Newcomers are always welcome around the campfire.

Attend Parent Committee meetings. We welcome all parents at committee meetings. Since every parent has an equal stake in the future of the troop, every parent has an equal voice. This is your opportunity to find out about the past, present and future activities. Parent Committee meetings are held during troop meetings and are communicated in eamils to parents and scouts.

Become a Merit Bade Counselor. Any adut may be a counselor which provides an opportunity for one to share their hobbies, interests or vocation with the scouts. Each counselor must attend a training session that we will arrange at the troop meeting an outing.  There are many resources available to assist you. Contact the Scoutmaster or an Assistant Scoutmaster if you wish to be on the counselor list. 

Attend training sessions for Scouters. The District has an active training program covering Adult Leader Fundamentals, Youth Protection, Advanced Scoutmaster training and many High Adventure certifications. Ask any adult leader or committee officer.

Become an Assistant Scoutmaster. The ASM group meets the third Monday of every month, usually at the home of an ASM. Parents are welcome to attend and participate - but careful, you might wind up volunteering for something. We usually have no fewer than 10-12 registered adult leaders, and there's still enough work to go around.

Attend meetings, watch the website, talk to other parents, stay involved with your son's Scouting experience. Involved parents encourage involved Scouts.
