Troop 975 is chartered by the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, a Livermore civic group, in 1971. Our membership ranges between 40-50 Scouts from year to year. We're small enough that no Scout is lost in the shuffle, but large enough that there's always a group getting ready for the next outing.

We are a very active troop with 1 or 2 outings every month, lots of camping, community service, high adventure trips and just plain fun. Some of our yearly activities include: Beach camping in September, Angel Island camping, snow camping in the Sierras, water activities such as canoeing or kayaking, bike rides, ski trips, Camporee in the Spring and a week at Camp Royaneh every July. Our latest high adventure trip in March '08 was a week at the Sea Base in the Florida Keys.  Many in our group paddled war canoes to a deserted island and camped Robinson Crusoe style and others stayed at the Sea Base and did various exciting activities including fishing and sailing.   Our Activities Calendar is online.

New scouts are placed in an existing patrol (with a buddy if they desire) at their very first meeting, and are naturally drawn into the group as they learn, help, grow and join in the fun.

Our senior boy leadership is exemplary. Our Senior Patrol Leader and Assistant Senior Patrol Leaders are Brownsea JLT trained, and our patrol leaders have had all had at least one course of junior leader training.

We are a boy-run, patrol-oriented troop, just the way Baden-Powell envisioned it. Adults are always on hand to provide guidance, safety and opportunity, but this is a Boy Scout show. We have a history of developing excellent boy leadership, confidence and competence through the application of the Aims and Methods of Scouting.

Our parent group is also very active. We have more than a dozen trained active assistant Scoutmasters, many of whom are also Woddbadged trained. We adhere strictly to BSA Youth Protection policies, place safety first, and  we staff outings with two trained, registered adult leaders, often more.

Parents can see where they fit in by checking out our Parent Info page.

We welcome all that wish to visit us at a meeting or on an outing.
